INDIVIDUALIZED EDUCATIONAL EVALUATIONS.jpg

Individualized PSYCHOEDUCATION Evaluations

We conduct individualized psychoeducation assessments of your child’s neurocognitive, academic, and/or social and emotional functioning. Our individualized evaluations begin with an intake interview to discuss your child's strengths and areas of need. Your Kids First clinician will then design an assessment battery based specifically on the referral concern. Before testing begins, our school psychologists may interview your child, members of your child's school team, and/or observe your child at school with your consent. Following the testing process, we provide a comprehensive psychoeducation evaluation report and can be available to share our findings with your child’s school team.

Dyslexia Screenings

Our school psychologists are passionate about LITERACY. We are deeply engaged in literacy spaces and are strong advocates for educational policy and practices that support high quality literacy instruction for ALL kids. Although many states have passed legislation that require Dyslexia screenings for all students, Illinois is not yet one of those states. If you are a parent of a child who is struggling to learn to read, your child may benefit from a Dyslexia screener. See our FAQ page for more information about Dyslexia screenings at Kids First Collaborative.

Executive Function Coaching

Executive function skills are essential for children, adolescents, and adults. Executive function skills include organization, planning, working memory, the ability to self-monitor, self-regulate, initiate, attend to and complete tasks. These skills help us learn and function efficiently at home, school, and work. When school-aged children struggle with executive function deficits, they often experience a great deal of frustration with homework, test taking, long-term projects, and even emotional control. The good news is that executive function skills can be taught! Our executive function skills coaching starts with an assessment to determine strengths and weaknesses and weekly coaching to help students track, plan, monitor, and execute.
